'I don't see how Sivaji can affect my film'

Mohit Suri (inset) may not be a star director yet. But he has given the Hindi film industry successful and well-reviewed movies. Now, after Zeher, Kalyug and Woh Lamhe, the 28-year-old is ready with his fourth film, Awarapan.

The film stars Emraan Hashmi and Shriya.

Not many know that Shriya will star opposite Tamil superstar Rajnikanth in his big venture, Sivaji, releasing on June 15.

Patcy N talks to Suri about his new film, and asks him whether Shriya's inclusion will benefit his film. Excerpts:

What is Awarapan about?

As the title suggests, it is about the life of a wanderer. I believe that in this world of shopping malls and globalisation, there is still a wanderer in all of us. That's what I wanted to capture.

The USP of this film is the belief in god, which is shown by the protagonist. He is a gangster. He questions his beliefs after he meets a girl from his past. Though the film deals with spiritualism, it is done in a modern scenario. If I make a film only on spirituality, it will bomb.
