Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)
The Story: Episode IV opens with a rebel ship being boarded by the tyrannical Darth Vader. The plot then follows the life of a simple farmboy, Luke Skywalker, as his new friends (Han Solo, Chewbacca, Ben Kenobi, C-3PO, R2-D2) and he attempt to rescue a rebel leader, Princess Leia, from the clutches of the Empire. The conclusion is culminated as the Rebels, including Skywalker and flying ace Wedge Antilles, attack the Empire's most powerful and ominous weapon, the Death Star.
I saw the original trilogy in a festival in Strand theatre, at a time when I was still drinking Thumbs Up, eating Five star chocolates and going to school.
I still remember the opening words of the film: In a galaxy far, far away.
I think I saw this movie with my mouth open. Or maybe, I saw all three movies with my mouth open!
My mouth is still open as I recollect the experience. I watched a film that changed the face of filmmaking.
Watching R2-D2, C-P30 and Chewbacca bundled up along with Hans Solo and Luke Skywalker in the space craft and the excellent chemistry each shared is so bizzarely brilliant! Imagine putting two humans, an alien, a speaking robot and a beeping robot in a space machine and having them go at it!
Favourite scene: The destruction of the Death Star.
