Why did it take so long to make number four?
After Die Hard 3, I took a break from doing action films for a while. I thought the genre needed to reinvent itself or be reinvented.
For a long time I thought I should just retire the series undefeated. They've all done very well for Fox. I think they've brought an incredible amount of revenue to the studio, over a billion dollars.
But I like taking a risk and gambling, and the potential to fail in this film was certainly out there. But I can look at it now and tell you that it's a great film, it really is. It's a Die Hard film.
Do you see this as the final installment?
I don't know if the studio is; they are so excited about the film.
I was just told that the trailer was rated higher than any other in the history of Fox; higher than the one for Independence Day, which was the best trailer they ever had.
In five days on YouTube, our new trailer got over a million hits, which is some kind of record for that website. Now does that answer your question?
