If not for Salman, Sanjay Leela Bhansali may never have made his big hit Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

Salman starred in Bhansali's debut venture Khamoshi. Unfortunately, it bombed despite great music and a good star cast that included Manisha Koirala, Nana Patekar and Seema Biswas.

When Bhansali approached Salman for his next film, the star readily agreed. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was born, and the rest is history.

Since then, Bhansali has always been vocal about his support for Salman. In an episode of Koffee With Karan, Bhansali told host Karan Johar that he would pick Salman over Aishwarya Rai, when he was asked to pick between the two.

Bhansali's next film Saawariya will also see Salman playing an important role.
