Ore Kadal has the distinction of opening the Indian panorama at the International Film Festival in Goa.

The film, based on Bengali writer Sunil Gangopadhyay's Heerak Deepthi, has been noted for superlative performances from its lead pair, Mammootty and Meera Jasmine. Mammootty plays an internationally renouned economist and Meera Jasmine plays a simple housewife. Narain and Ramya Krishnan also star here.
