Jimmy Shergill has reason to smile. Two of his films, Dus Kahaniyaan and Strangers, will release back to back December 7 and December 14 respectively. Next year too, he has about seven films already finished or in the post-production stage!
The actor spoke to Patcy N about his films, career, and much more. Excerpts:
On Dus Kahaniyan
The name of my story in Dus Kahaniyaan is High On The Highways. Me and Masumeh are the lead in this short story, about two students of a film institute whose passion is to get high and go on the highway and watch the trucks pass by and relate it to the philosophy of life. This is a farewell night and now even though they love each other they are going to go their own ways. They decide to go for one last time to the highway. What happens there is what the story all about.
Dus Kahaniyaan is a unique concept. It has six directors and 10 different stories which have nothing to do with each other. They are all from different genres -- one could be an action film and the other could be a thriller and the next could be a comedy. My story is a 10-minute film. None of the stories meet each other. The only similarity between all the stories is that there is a twist in the tale.
To do this role I used to drink before shot. I never got drunk because once you get drunk you pass out, you can't act! Director Hansal Mehta and I talked a lot about the character and I gathered that he wants a no makeup feel. It has to be very real. There has to be a lot of physical energy in my character. So he told me that he wants me to have a couple of drinks before the shoot because he wanted the feel in the eyes.
I personally feel that when you look the character, half the battle is won. So, I would drink and to keep up with the energy I would drink black coffee and sugar-free Red Bull.
