One of the poems that received the best atttention was about people's reluctance to own up to the atrocities committed in their times.
Bachchan told the audience that his father wrote about the Holocaust denial, the unwillingness by Americans for a long time to own up to the injustices of slavery, and the indifference of people toward crimes committed in the name of border lines.
"There would be blood on people's doors...and on the walls, and quickly it would be wiped out," Amitabh explained in between the reading.
"So it was left to the poets to keep the blood alive in their work," his babuji wrote.
