The many faces of Mahatma Gandhi
Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara (2005)
The maker: Jahnu Barua
Never mind the title, this thought-provoking film is not about Bapu's assassination.
Instead, the delicately layered movie is about a Gandhian (Anupam Kher) suffering from a schizophrenia-like condition.
Barua explores both the patient's condition as well as the metaphor of Gandhi. How Bapu's values are fast losing meaning against the rapid tide of commercialism is one question Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara raises constantly.
