Winner of eight Academy awards, including for best film, director and actor, Gandhi, a joint collaboration between the creative forces of the Indian film industry and Hollywood, was shot simultaneously in English and Hindi, and paid homage to an extraordinary man spearheading an extraordinary movement.
With his cleverly researched performance and terrific screen presence, Ben Kingsley contributed significantly in bringing out Gandhi's charismatic persona. Most of all, he looked the part.
