Hyderabad Blues

Nagesh Kukunoor, a chemical engineer settled in the US, decided that moviemaking was what he really desired, and made his directorial debut with the brilliant Hyderabad Blues in 2002.

The film was almost the story of his life, as he played an NRI software engineer, who returned to India and fell in love.

The mix of American and Indian culture was shown very well, and Kukunoor was one of the first filmmakers to make films for niche audiences.
