There are plenty of times when filmmakers cannot match the high standards they set for themselves with their films, and fall short in their upcoming films.

After Maine Pyaar Kiya, director Sooraj Barjatya became an overnight star as he delivered a blockbuster with an unknown hero, Salman Khan, and a little known heroine, Bhagyashree.

Barjatya was one of the few who not only lived up to expectations, he exceeded them in his next, Hum Aapke Hai Koun...! The film starts off with an elaborate wedding, where the bride's sister (Madhuri Dixit) falls in love with the groom's brother (Salman Khan).

After a couple of twists and turns, coupled by a tragic death when the bride (Renuka Shahane) dies, the film ends on a happy note. At the box office, it ended on an even happier note, when it became of the biggest hits in Hindi cinema.
