Upen Patel: Hot, and lovin' it!

36 China Town is a murder mystery. It's a parallel lead with two men and one woman who are suspects.

"I play a fun-loving character who is at the wrong place at the right time, which makes him a suspect. I play a cool, stylised character. He is innocent and doesn't know what he is getting into. For the role, directors Abbas-Mustan conducted a small workshop ten days before the film, to brief me about the character and what they expected. Kareena and Shahid, who are like my seniors in the industry, helped me learn a lot. It was a fantastic experience."

Speaking about his favourite part of the film, he says, "The title song Aashiqui meri, shot on a whopping Rs 3 crore budget, is filmed on me. As it is a dance number, and I am a natural dancer, it was fun. Choreographer Ahmad Khan told me about the mood of the song sung by Himesh Reshammiya and we got going. It was as if I was doing it for my own pleasure."
