Record Of The Year is a tough category, and had very heavy selling artists fighting for it this year -- including Mariah Carey and Kanye West.
But rock is alive and kicking, with Green Day's Boulevard of broken dreams (from the phenomenal concept album American Idiot) beating both Mariah's We belong together and West's Golddigger to pick up top honours.
'Pop radio playing rock music is a very big deal to me,' said band leader Billie Joe Armstrong, as he lifted the coveted trophy, which was handed to him by veteran rocker Sting.
