After Sunidhi Chauhan's outing as a radio jockey, it was the turn of Shankar Mahadevan to take over the mike.
Shankar interviewed tabla maestro Zakir Hussain on Radio City 91.1 FM's morning show, Musical-E-Azam. The show, which was spiced up by Zakir's tabla performances, had the maestro talking about his early life in Mumbai's suburban Mahim, his daughters and much more.
Continuing in our series, rediff.com presents excerpts from a conversation between Shankar, Zakir and RJ Manish Paul.
Shankar: I cannot believe you are here and I am going to interview you. Thank you very much.
Zakir: Shankar is a brother and I am honoured and happy to do this for him.
Manish: In fact, I will want thank both of you for this. Zakir bhai, how was your morning?
Zakir: I (usually) sleep at 8.30 am. I play music in the night and sleep in the day. But today things are different. I have to catch a flight. So there is not much sleep for me.
Shankar: In a year, he takes 200 flights.
Zakir: I have to collect mileage for my family, kya kare! (laughs)
