Sunidhi: I have seen you on stage and you can sing for hours with the same energy. But I have also noticed that at some point you shut your eyes and seem to be on your own while singing. What do you feel then, at that moment?
Sukhwindar: That is a meditation. I don't know if I will be able to explain it to you, but I remember once, as a child, I was sleeping on the terrace. I woke up to some sound. I listened only to realise that it was me who was singing. I must have started singing in my dream -- a dream that was to be my future. So when you ask what goes on in my mind, I go into my dream world.
Sunidhi: Tell us about your song in Omkara, the title track.
Sukhwindar: Vishal Bharadwaj while narrating the situation told me I had to sing for a village don. The element of terror had to be in the way I sing the song. So we decide to keep the voice raw, removed all the technical systems from the voice. We made it sound like one is listening to it face to face. This was the first time I sang according to the situation and for the character.
Sunidhi: Yes it is an amazing song. And recently you have got an Oscar nomination for your song Chan chan from Water.
Sukhwindar: Yes. A song from Rang De Basanti too has been nominated. I am very happy.
