Priyanka Chopra plays Akshay's wife in the film.
"The story has many elements," Bachchan explains. "It highlights the importance of the family in Indian culture. It is about how a son loves his father in spite of their differences. It is also about how an ordinary man works hard and makes it big."
Bachchan's earlier family drama, Ravi Chopra's Baghban, had fared well at the box-office. Bachchan says, "Baghban was a foreign concept. These things do not happen in our society. But the film did well. It reflects that in big metros and other big towns, these problems exist."
Vipul Shah's film shares the same name as Yash Chopra's 1965 multi-starrer, featuring Sunil Dutt, Raj Kumar, Sadhna, Shashi Kapoor, Sharmila Tagore and Balraj Sahni.
"But that film was a classic. I can only hope this film will do well," Shah says.
