The shooting for the film started on January 27, 2001, at Mumbai's Film City.

Each of the main dwarf characters had one-foot dolls to represent their positions. Jaaved would use them as a reference point and look into their eyes as he spoke his lines.

Jajantaram Mamantaram boasts of 63 minutes of computer-generated special effects, a record for any Indian film. These effects have been planned and executed by Maya Entertainment.
