Director Soumitra Ranade makes his film debut with Jajantaram Mamantaram.

He remembers how he got a call from iDream Productions, saying they would like to discuss an idea with him. They wanted to know if he would be interested in remaking Gulliver's Travels.

He jumped at the offer. Later, he says, "The reason I said yes with such alarming speed was because of my complete ignorance about the technology involved. Even if I had one-hundredth of an idea of what awaited us, I might have been more sceptical."
