Every singer had a glorious five or ten minutes at the show. Udit Narayan was superb with his rendition of Mitwa from Lagaan. Hariharan excelled not only with a Tamil number but also with the Chanda re chanda re number from Sapne. Sonu Nigam, who sang his hit numbers from Taal, The Legend Of Bhagat Singh and Saathiya got the best applause for his spirited presentation of his award-winning title song from Saathiya. Could an A R Rahman show ever end without Chhaiyya chhaiyya followed by Vande Mataram? But the Chhaiyya chhaiyya number this time came with a difference. After the standard version, Sukhwindara Singh continued singing the infectious song for at least four more minutes, drawing huge applause. He played around with several lines from the song, and stretched them out as only he could do.
