Lagaan: Best Film

Ronjita Kulkarni in Mumbai

Diya Mirza, who made a glittering appearance last year in Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein and Deewanapan set the stage on fire with costar Arjun Rampal (who also starred in Ashok Mehta's Moksha), at the Manikchand Filmfare Awards 2001 held at the Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla MMRDA grounds.

The Best Film, not surprisingly, went to Ashutosh Gowariker's Lagaan, starring Aamir Khan. The film has been nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 74th Annual Academy Awards to be held at Los Angeles on March 24.

Ashutosh Gowariker also won applause for his direction in Lagaan.
