Bipasha, Tusshar: Best Newcomers

At the Manikchand Filmfare Awards, Bipasha Basu was adjudjed Best Newcomer (Female) for her performance in Ajnabee and Tusshar Kapoor won the same for his surprising debut in Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai

Earlier, awards were presented to Rakesh Ranjan for Best Sound Recordist (Aks - The Reflection), Sharmista Roy for Art Direction in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Tinu Verma for Best Action in Gadar - Ek Prem Katha, Santosh Sivan for his picturesque cinematography in Asoka, Sreekar Prasad for his tight editing in Dil Chahta Hai, Karan Johar for his dialogues in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Ranjit Barot for his background score in Aks.

Ashutosh Gowariker's story set in 1893 in faraway Champaner (Lagaan) won the Best Story and the very entertaining Dil Chahta Hai's Farhan Akhtar walked away with the screenplay honours.
