'It is very hard to replace Bill Gates'

Srini Koppolu, the managing director of Microsoft India Development Centre, joined Microsoft in 1989. He was one of the founding members of the Office development team responsible for the common features of Office Applications. He also played key leadership role in developing Office 95 and Office 97.

He moved to Hyderabad, India, in 1998 to set up the Microsoft India Development Centre. With over 1,500 employees, MSIDC in is one of Microsoft's largest product development centres outside its headquarters in Redmond, USA.

He shares his views on the impact of the economic downturn on Microsoft, and about the company's founder Bill Gates, in an exclusive interview with Contributing Managing Editor Shobha Warrier.
