eJeevika: Training rural folk for jobs

February 2, 2009

The passion is so high at the eight-member team of eJeevika that it has set high targets: to train and place 1,000 candidates in the next 2-3 months, and about 5,000 candidates this year!

In the next 5 years, they plan to have pan-India presence with a 1,000 centres spread across India and be the largest employment providing and training company. Their next target state is Gujarat.

"I know so many people in the corporate world who are not happy with their careers. Because of the risks involved, they cannot start anything of their own. With the service class background, a person from the middle class cannot afford to take such risks. That's why I have to thank Prof Jhunjhunwala and RTBI for giving me such a platform so that I could realise my dreams and chase my passion," says Richa. "He has given me enough time to test and be successful. How many people get such an opportunity? Now I am a part of his bigger vision that we have to make India successful, and if India has to grow, it has to start from rural areas. And we have to have profitable, scalable enterprises. eJeevika is becoming one."
