India, Asia's 4th most corrupt nation

Elsewhere in the world too, corruption is not unknown. For example, corruption in the United States is much lower than that of Japan with a score of 2.89. There are few corruption cases involving high officials. Corruption among law enforcement officers has been observed in the US.
The US is a leader in fighting corruption, both domestically and overseas. In 1977, it became the first country to pass a law making bribery of foreign officials a crime.
The United States has the strongest record of any OECD Anti-Bribery Convention signatory, with 103 prosecutions, and severe penalties, states The Heritage Foundation study.
