Soon after the Tatas said that they would shift the prestigious Nano car plant from Singur in West Bengal elsewhere, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said that the state would lay down the red carpet for the project.

The Tatas, the chief minister said, are very welcome to set up the Nano car project in Maharashtra,

Reports also said that the Maharashtra chief minister has also said that he is committed to providing trouble-free land to the Tatas for the project. The State has offered land to the Tatas in places like Pune, Nagpur, Amravati, Aurangabad, Latur and Nanded.
