S P Hinduja on why India will survive the crisis

October 16, 2008

Aren't you being too optimistic when you are already projecting that the US has moved and rescued the economy when many people argue that this is just a band-aid and it won't work?

No, no. It's a lingering process. It is not that things will change overnight. This is going to take at least 3-5 years.

And, we should not forget that in these couple of decades, the economy has boomed because of the irregularities of the system, otherwise millions would not become billions overnight.

Billionaires numbers have increased. So, again, there is something wrong with the system. The systems have to be now reviewed not only to ensure that this (financial meltdown) is not repeated, but also take into account that the global population has grown plus 6 billion, and over and above that the world's volume.

If you compare with the 1930s, it's just like a drop in the ocean today. So, I have been telling them (the US officials, World Bank officials and other financial analysts he has been meeting in Washington and earlier in Britain ), that they should not only review the financial sector but also the constitutions.
