Mauritius; Rank 1
Mauritius topped the index with 5 points only.
Since independence in 1968, Mauritius developed from a low-income, agriculturally based economy to a middle income
diversified economy. The country thrives on growing industrial, financial, and tourist sectors.
The country's annual growth has ranged between 5 per cent and 6 per cent on an average.
This has been reflected in increased life expectancy, lowered infant mortality and an improved infrastructure.
