N R Narayana Murthy, co-founder non-executive chairman and chief mentor of Infosys Technologies, does not figure anywhere in the list of top taxpayers in India.
Even as the CEO of one of India's best-known companies, which he headed for 21 years, from 1981 to 2002, his name never figured in the list of highest-paid CEOs.
Known for his Spartan lifestyle, Murthy has been credited with having uncanny corporate and social vision which helped India establish a world-class company. He has also been honoured by Padma Vibushan, India's second highest civilian award.
