Sachin Tendulkar, the only cricketer to figure in the top-200 list of income tax payers, paid as much as Rs 8.8 crore (Rs 88 million) in income tax.
Despite the popularity of India's one-day cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sachin, at rank 81, continues to be the highest tax-paying sportsman in the nation.
The list of top-200 taxpayers also includes cardiac surgeon Naresh Trehan (Rs 8.4 crore or Rs 84 million),
Sanjay Dutt (Rs 5.8 crore or Rs 58 million), music director-singer Himesh Reshammiya (Rs 4.89 crore or Rs 48.9 million), lawyer Mukul Rohtagi (Rs 4.85 crore or Rs 48.5 million), and actor Aamir Khan (Rs 4.72 crore or Rs 47.2 million).
