It was a special day for the Infosys family. Sudha Murthy, wife of Infosys founder Narayana Murthy, was awarded with a Padma Shri for the far-sighted social work she has spearheaded through Infosys Foundation.

The Infosys Foundation, which Murthy began in 1997, provides health, education and social rehabilitation for the poor. She spends between 15 to 20 days every month travelling to rural areas in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Orissa.
