Michael Dell, Chairman of Dell Computer Corporation, whose wealth grew by $1.8 billion to $13 billion this year, takes the 10th spot in the Forbes 400 Richest Americans list.
Dell started off by selling computers from his dorm at the University of Texan, Austin, in 1984. He then dropped out to start his own firm, Dell Computer, which went public in 1988.
Forbes says the soft-spoken Texan continues to dominate the market for personal computers by branching out into servers, storage and services.
