Your Views: Kelkar's proposal is a blow to the salaried employees. With an intention to get rebate many employees have
already committed good amount of insurance premium and housing loan which are irreversible. Now on one side they will have
to pay these and on the other side high Incometax.Employees never evade tax. Additional burden thus will add salt to the
injury. Finally, what social benefit is extended to the poor and honest tax payers? I think the proposal will induce further
corruption which is the biggest social evil. Mr. Kelkar could not touch the businessmen who earn manytimes more than the
salried people but pay meagre tax.If Kelkar proposal is implemented there will be a reflection on next parliamentary election

Your Views: This is unfair to lift the Tax Exemptions. Already there are aplenty of Tax Debt by big Industrialist, Cine Artists
etc.. Collecting those money would be sufficient. No Hotels, Medical Shops, Doctor's Clinic, Provision Stores, Road Side Tea
Shops is paying tax.(They are earning more than a Manager in big Company). Also lifting tax exemption will not attract
investments for LIC, NSC etc. I would strongly oppose kelkar's Tax plan

Your Views: His report is not fair. Anyway the personal income tax is just 2% and Income tax office is nothing but one huge
harrasment machine. The government on top of that harrasses the IT officers with some foolish guidelines that will make them to
do more harrassments to sincear tax payers!. Instead of encouraging the honest tax payers his guidelines makes them even
grumble and prompt more tax evaders!!!! It would have been a huge welcome if he had added the slashing of surcharges
minimising tax percentages, and making a uniform tax structure and making guidelines to IT officers so that they will not try to
harass honest tax payers!!!if this had come in his report then everybody will pay taxes without any grumbles!!! and they
wouldnt have minded about lifting of exemptions on small savings.

be brought under the perview of tax brackets and not by eliminating the standard deductions and rebates on the income of
middle class people. The committee is unable to prove itself a transparent one and it is unable to do a fair justice....

Your Views: It is unfair to remove standard deduction and exemptions available for salaried people, as they are will be worst
sufferer. Businessmen can do any adjustment in their Profit & Loss A/c, but salaried can't. Two slabs are welcomed. Steps
should be taken to increase assessee, as there is no follow up for 1/6 scheme letters.Serious steps should be taken against dept
staff for not issueing refunds in time and long pening refunds should be cleared soon on priority basis.

Your Views: It is high time india looked at abolishing income tax. The agruments for this are: 1. Very low percentage of people
in this country pay taxes. These are mostly the salaried class who cannot hide their income. The buisness class on the other
hand nevr pay taxes except when they require a housing loan or buy a large car !!! 2. In a growing economy like ours a salaried
person owning a 2 wheeler probably pays Rs. 5000pm as taxes. This is the EMI for a small car. Can any one imaging the
tremendous pottential of guys switching from 2 wheelers to 4 wheelers. This is but just an example. In a growing economy like
ours we need to have more of indirect taxes where the consumption pattern of the rich needs to be identified and taxed
accordingly. 3. Can anyone imagine the growth rate india could acheive over the next 5 year plan by abolishing income tax.
People would have no fear buying what they want. That is when the real spending power going to come in this country

Your Views: Instead of taxing the middle class/salaried class, Dr.Kelkar must charge the Agricultural income of the Rich
farmers & non-agriculturists. By removing the sops on savings, is Dr.Kelkar wanting to make the people spend-thrifts & die
with a huge debt on their name as is happening with most Americans? or is he trying to negate the age-old habit of the Indians
of savings - droplets make ocean! If he is not an agent of the World Bank or the American/European Powers, then he must in
fact simplify the system by putting all types of savings under one head (instead of the present 10 or 15) with a limit of say 30%
of the earnings & give one sop! More the savings, more will be the growth in the economy! Whereas, more the spending faster
will the civilisation perish! For this Dr.Kelkar must read our great Vedas & Chanakya niti. Dr.Kelkar must be aware that in the
more flourishing societies, as the income grows, the Income Tax rate comes down. The logic is that the Govt. wants more
people to pay taxes & enjoy. Whereas Dr.Kelkar is trying to do just the opposite. Statistics will tell Dr.Kelkar that the middle
class & the Salaried class is funding the growth & Bureaucratic Pamperings! If Dr.Kelkar's proposal is passed then it will be an
invitation to the Congress by the NDA to come to power in Delhi!

the same will continue for a long period. For example people are taking LIC policies thinking that he will get
deduction/exemption of tax on his investment on LIC premium he pay for the period of the LIC policy. If all of sudden the
exemption is taken away, he will suffer a lot and his return on investment will be reduced considerably. Mahesh Pandya

This will, like many others, will also gather dust in the North Block. Thanks to Politicians and Babus, neo-colonialists in

Your Views: The main issue raised by kalkar's reccomendation is not what has been stated here. This issue has got prominence
because it effects the middle class and they are the most vocal section of the society. The main issue is taxing the agriculture
income of the non agriculturist. This will effect the corrupt officials, politicians and even the large business people who show
their black income as agriculture income to convert it into white money. But who will bell the cat???? The people who would be
effected are the one who make laws!!! The middle class views are being given prominence to actually drop this
reccomendation. I hope the discussion is done on this issue and not on the tax slabs. Tax slabs can be adjusted so that pople
are not adversly effected. Our tax system is in a mess and the reccomendation of the Kalkar committee should be implemented
to put them in proper shape.

education and other essential necessities. Withdrawl of rebate on savings not only hurts the future but also the present. Lastly
there is no certainty that the amount paid as tax reaches is utilised for the purpose for which it is provided. The panel should
seriously consider increasing of the standard deduction/reliefs and provison of sustainable income till the threshold of Rs. 5 lacs
and increase the taxes on higher income drawers. Hope there is some light for the middle class.

will lead to severe differences in standard of Living in society. Why not Govt. think of taxing business entities based on their
turnover instead of income basis?? Every one knows that business class are the people who evade taxes by showing either less
income or more expenses?? why not Govt. take more stringent steps to curb parrallel markets ( say no. 2 market) which as per
the survey accounts for about 40% in respect of consumer durable goods?? Govt. should carry out a survey to find out which
are the areas of income leakages rather than prevailing on the same ageold methods and ways of taxing salaried class. What
steps it is taking to bring more transperancy and eliminate corruption which is rampant in the system??

Your Views: there must be tax on agriculture atleast on income on agriculture more than say Rs.5 lac. Some argue, in
agriculture there are chances of loss due to natural calamities but these losses may be allowed to write off over a period of
certain years as in case of capital gain. Govt. allways cought hold of poor middle salaried class who pays tax and that goes to
certain states funding or their political agenda. Govt. is giving lot of grants like 700 crore every year in north east state where no
accountability is there where this money goes which is of tax payer. No benefit to a tax payer rather he is put to trouble some
time for one reason or other. Those not declaring there income are always been spared. This country need tax and legal reforms
otherwise things will remain same, nothing is going to change. These policitian would continue to enjoy and we indian are used
to all these suffering.By paying 30% tax on income what benefit a tax payer get. In my view there should be special treatment to
tax payer citizen in comparison to other in case like hospital or other areas that would ensure more encourangement for tax
compliances. anyway thanks for reading my views.

commitment of tax exemptions on Housing Loan repayments. Most of the middle class people have availed Housing Loans in
the last few years with commitment of repayment upto 20 years based on the assumption that they will continue to enjoy the tax
rebate on housing loan repayments. But Now, if Govt lift this exemption, most of them would be hardpressed for repayment of
housing loan. Government and the Tax authorities have no guts to be strict with politicians and film people who avoid/evade
payment of tax and they are very proud to announce that these people are defaulters in the media. But, they take stringent steps
which affects poor middle class people who do not have any money/muscle power. I strongly protest the proposals and I

There will be tremendous mobilisation of funds which can be used for developmental activity. I think this should be retained for
all sections @ 10-15% rebate irrespective of the income slab. The rate of interest may suitably be reduced. Dont forget it
generates tremendous employment in the LICs ICICIs and infrastructure industry money is spent on. Job generation is the need
of the country. 2.Salaried class are by far the most tax compliant. Withdrawal of std. deduction and 88 benefit is unfair on this
class. Instead you should concentrate on the big business houses which employ 'tax planning'. Get reasonable return from top
50 companies you should get more than what you get from the salaried. 3.You should retain some incentive for companies
which generate export revenue. Give an exemption of atleast 50% of the export income. Do not give any company full tax
holiday including software sector. The present rate of 10% (effective 3.5%) is not enough. You should target atleast 12.5-15%
effective tax from this sector. Low no dis-incentive and you generate revenue t

Hence incentives for savings shud be increased. As far as taxes are concerned, the Govt. does not deserve any tax as it does
nothing to help people earn money. In fact India is one of the worst countries to do business in. Hence the Govt. should focus
on reducing its expenditure, and plug tax loopholes, tax agriculture income and reduce the tax rates further. There should be
incentives to tax payers , eg. discounts in tax rate for timely submission/payment, seat reservations in schools for children,
preferential medical treatment, free mediclaim etc. Govt. should pay back a portion of the tax collected when tax payer hits bad
times. Last thing - free most Govt. channels of corruption (customes, excise, RTOs, Octroi, Municipal Corps ... the list is
endless). This itself would generate enough money to continue the Govt.'s useless activities like foreign trips, renovation of

Your Views: Kelkar's prposal is not acceptable to middle class people. We have taken House Building Advace @ 11% to
have exemption. This will be deducted from our salary till our retirement from service. We have taken insurance policy for
exemption. This policy is also of 20-25 yrs. I this the Kelkar's proposal has been influenced by some industrialists and this
policy will only benefit the businessmen & industrialists who always are capable to ignore the tax by not revealing their correct
figures of business or taking services of tax-consultant to save their taxes. I think middle class people are in need of "eradication
of tax-raj" not the "eradication of exemption-raj". Salaried employees will be worst-effected by the Kelkar's proposal.

Your Views: The Kelkar recommendations are in a right directions.Keeping in view the low interest rates and good liquidity
availability it is fair to remove all deductions.Kelkar's recommendations are that tax limit should be increased to
Rs.100000/-and tax rate should also be reduces to 15%.This will inspire every citizen to have his full income on paper.

Your Views: people with no experience of working in the govt should not be given this kind of a task.Economic theories and
implementation propsals for the welfare of the welfare class have to be synergised.today aperson in the govt having a salary of
about 2 lakhs pays a tax of around 30 thousand.if he has saved 60 thousand-----then what is left is onlyaround 1.20
lakhs/annum or 10 thousand per month .this is for a officer level post ----what about others? shri kelkar also does not have any
idea about how savings are channelised and how important they are to a developing country and india may god give fm and him
some better piuece of mind

Your Views: Who cares! Indian middle class has always been churned by those very people who govern us (and most of them
does'nt know that even they have to pay tax). There had been a lot of controversy over this; your views and mine would be
floating in air, as we see whatever the 'responsible' people feel fit WILL BE CARRIED OUT, irrespective of the general
consensus. Why worry? So, go to sleep now and be ready to shell out in the next tax paying season. Cheers!!

Your Views: The proposal to phase out the housing loans for Tax rebate will hit the salaried calss very very hard. Though one
can argue that the interest rates have dipped down inflation has compensated for it by pushing the real estate rates up all the
time.Using the salaried class as the Milch cow is a favourite past time of the Kelkars of the Land

Your Views: savings is an important factor in anybodies life.salaried class people does it for education, marriage, owning a
house,as well as his retired life.if the government does not give rebate for this the service class people will be forced to beg alms
Theprices of petrol ,electricity.essential commodities, education has gone up enormously which has compelled people to cut
expenditure on food. medical treatment has gone up very highSo the government should take a sympathetic view for its own
employees who are honest taxpayer before implenting kelker committee report They should not be punished for honestly
paying tax .already the interest has gone down substantially on savings

Your Views: Proposal is very good, there should be no exemption limit.in country like india where very few percentage of
people have got job .Every person who has got Job should pay tax irrespective gross annual income but percentage should be
lower.Person WHO HAS TAKEN HOUSE LOAN AS PER PRESENT SCHEME TO SAVE TAX MAY BE GIVEN
SOME TIME SAY FIVE YEAR.

Your Views: -----WHAT ABOUT THE TAX FROM BUSINESSMENA AND SMALL TRADERS? MANY DONT'
EVEN KNOW WHAT INCOME TAX IS. IT IS ONLY THIS FOOLISH JOB ORIENTED MIDDLECLASS THAT
BECOMES VICTIM OF SUCH PROPOSALS. ON ONE HAND YOU REDUCE THE INTEREST RATE? SO LESS

SHOULD THEY ALL COMMITT SUISIDE?????????? TELL ME MR.KELKAR???????? EITHER DO ONE GOOD
THING. PLEASE GIVE TAX EXEMPTION TO THE RETIRED PERSON. OR HAVE SOME SPECIAL SCHEME FOR
THEM WHERE THEY CAN EARN SOME MORE INTEREST TO STAY ALIVE...... AND PLEASE PLEASE DO
SOMETHING TO BRING THE RICH FARMERS, SMALL TRADERS, BIG BUSINESSMEN , POLITICIANS ETC.
UNDER INCOME TAX RULES. it rules ARE NOT ONLY FOR THE POOR MAN DOING A JOB IN PRIVATE
COMPANY!!!!!!! IF YOU GIVE DEPRICIATION ETC. BENEFIT TO THE BUSINESSMEN , DO POOR MAN
STAY ALIVE BY EATING AIR????????? THEY ALSO NEED SOME KIND OF DAILY EXPENDITURE TO STAY
ALIVE. SO STANDARD DEDUCTION IS HIS RIGHT. ** DONT' KILL INDIAN MIDDLE CLASS WHICH WORKS
