Anamika Khanna brings down the curtain on LFW

"Anamika Khanna just showed why she is one of India's top designers," said Rohit Bal last night, just minutes after Khanna's show provided the Grand Finale to Lakme Fashion Week 2009. "She's a master of subtlety, and does a lot of things that perhaps only another designer would appreciate. I really liked some of what we saw tonight," Bal added.

And, indeed, Khanna's grand finale was the high point of Day 5. The Kolkata-based designer demonstrated an understanding of both traditional Indian design and more modern sensibilities. The result? A power-packed collection that had the audience buzzing.

With this all-white ensemble, Khanna used a sari-style draping over Western-style trousers. Elegant.
