In a PurpleLeap study conducted on a sample of over 10,000 students, it was found that over 70 per cent of students underperform on thinking skills (information processing and problem solving). This skill is the most important skill for technical jobs.
While about half of the students have huge gaps in this skill area making them fall into 'hard-to-train' category, there are more than 30 per cent of the students who are trainable. If these students get the right intervention, their skills can be improved. The improvement in information processing and problem solving skills alone will double the pool of employable students.
While communication skill is an important aspect, it is not the only factor that will make you employable. The other factors often determine whether the prospective employer find you employable or not. When you want to improve your chances of getting a job in this market, you need to develop yourself across skill areas and not just on your ability to speak English.
