Puran Poli

Ingredients:
500 gms channa dal
500 gms jaggery
125 gms wholewheat flour
250 gms refined flour
150 ml water
5 tbsp water
1/4 tsp nutmeg powder
Cooking oil/ ghee as required
Method:
Knead the wholewheat and refined flour into a soft dough, mixing in the 5 tbsps of oil and adding ion the 150 ml of water in small quantities. Set aside.
Wash the channa dal and add it to a saucepan of water, boiling till it is cooked.
Next, add in the jaggery and mix well, till the mixture is thick, then the nutmeg powder. Allow it to cool.
Taking small pieces of the dough, roll each into a ball and creating a hollow with your finger, fill the middle of each with the channa dal mix and seal.
Roll each dough ball out like a roti, but don't put so much pressure that the channa dal mix oozes out.
Bake each poli on a griddle till well done; baste lightly with ghee and serve.
