Riding an elephant alone!
With almost all places around Bangalore ticked off my 'to-visit' list, I was pondering over where to go over the weekend when Suhas called and mentioned Kaundinya Wildlife Sanctuary.
I had never heard of the place before. Even Suhas did not have much information except that it is somewhere near the Andhra Pradesh-Karnataka border.
I searched the Internet for information but didn't find much. I decided to check the map of Andhra Pradesh and located the exact spot of the sanctuary.
It was on the border of not two but three states -- Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

This was indeed a unique location for us. It is part of the Eastern Ghats, majority of which is on the Krishnagiri-Dharmapuri belt.
I got the contact number of the DFO of Palamaneru division from the AP government website.
I called the DFO who he in turn gave me the contact number of Murleshwar Rao, the DFO of Kuppam, under whose jurisdiction Kaundinya Wildlife Sanctuary came.
The DFO of Kuppam was very helpful and gave us the required permissions and offered accommodation at the forest guesthouse.
