It's easy to get caught up in the numbers. 47 cars may seem too few in a game of this generation. But in Grid, cars are not like works of art for you to collect and admire in your virtual garage; they are simply vehicles that will win you your next race and take you another step closer to conquering the racing world.
It seemed cheesy when Codies kept using that catchphrase again and again, but Grid really is 'all about the race'. The action is fast and furious, and the crashes are spectacular, with car parts flying in all directions. With so much happening, it's easy to forget, but not hard to see that Grid is also one of the most beautiful racing games around.
We've already had Burnout Paradise and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue this year, with the Playstation 3 exclusive MotorStorm: Pacific Rift yet to come, but it looks unlikely that either of them can dethrone Grid as the racing game of the year.
Rediff Rating: 4/5
