Ajmer: Surreal but lovely
After paying our respects at the Dargah, which required some jostling through the crowd, we spent some time at the rest house before making our way to Pushkar.
We reached just in time to see it at dusk.
The sky was beautiful -- loads of colourful hues. The Brahma temple was equally fascinating. It is the only temple in India where Brahma is worshipped.
A walk along the gullies in Pushkar was good fun. We bought Rajasthani jutties (shoes) and mirrorwork skirts.
One of the most exciting things about our visit to Rajasthan was the food! Though a bit spicy it is definitely worth a try. The Lahsun ki Chutney with Daal-Baati Choorma was just out of this world! We bought some very interesting Faalse ka sSerbet (blackberry juice) from Bhikkilal, a shop famous for all kinds of chutneys and pickles.
Ajmer has a variety of interesting eating options in the bazaar. A must try is the Pyaaz Ki Kachori.
Our two day trip, although short and hectic was definitely a wonderful insight into the sights and sounds of Rajasthan.
