Beauty all around
Next morning, a cab took us to the exotic Pahalgam. On the way, we bought some saffron at Rs 150 after a lot of bargaining. We also purchased honey.
We reached Pahalgam through the beautiful road in about three hours. There, we hired four horses for Rs 150 each for sightseeing. It was a beautiful, adventurous trip. Switzerland Point, especially, was magical. And we even got good quality saffron from there for just Rs 15!
We returned to the hotel for the night, carrying memories of the indescribably beautiful landscape.

Next day we went sightseeing locally -- Mughal Gardens, Chashme Shahi, etc. Don't forget to buy cane baskets from the shops near the mosque.
In the evening we hired an auto that took us to the old Srinagar market, where we got to see some shops, and factories for shawls, carpets, rugs, jackets, walnuts etc. We hired a shikara again for Rs 100 and visited the Floating Market, where we bought shawls and jackets along with rugs, bags etc.
Next morning, day three in Srinagar, we went to Gulmarg. A comfortable, four-hour drive took us to the stunningly beautiful place. The pathway is through a mountain road and is really an exotic experience.
At the lower reaches of the mountain, we could feel the raindrops, then we were in the clouds, and on top it was sunny!
