Look for protection

July 11, 2007
Before you decide on a particular pair of sunglasses, consider a few other facts apart from just the style and price tag.

When buying sunglasses, look for a pair that blocks at least 99 per cent of harmful rays. A pair from most reputed brands will offer you this.

Also, there are a variety of lenses available today, each offering different benefits.

The mirrored lens has a thin layer of metallic material that reduces light penetration; the polarised lens diminishes glare from smooth surfaces such as water; a photochromic lens is sun-sensitive and changes shades as the intensity of sunlight increases; and a tinted lens will shade your vision.
