Bhangra and human trafficking

Daler Mehndi isn't exactly going balle, balle these days. The bhangra king and his brother Shamsher have been charged with fraud and human trafficking by the Punjab police.

Mehndi was accused of taking 5,000 people abroad illegally during the last five years. The police allege that people would be taken abroad as part of a bhangra troupe to perform, and then would simply disappear. The case came to light when a man named Bakshish Singh charged that he had paid Rs 13 lakhs (Rs 1.3 million) to be taken abroad, which was not done.

The singer sought anticipatory bail, but was arrested by the Delhi police this month.
