Aamir, Kajol: Best ActorsRonjita Kulkarni in Mumbai Aamir Khan's heroic performance as Bhuvan in his debut production, Lagaan also won him the Best Actor Award at the Manikchand Filmfare Awards 2001, held at Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla's MMRDA grounds. Lagaan is one of the nominations for Best Foreign Language Film, at the 74th Annual Academy Awards, to be held on March 24, at Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Kajol's exuberance won the day. The traditional, yet fiery Anjali of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was the popular choice for Best Actress for the year 2001. Widely reported as her last film, Kajol cast aside the rumours by signing on for director Aditya Chopra's next film, opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Earlier, the Swiss government presented director-producer Yash Chopra with the Swiss Filmfare Award. Bond girl and stunner Ursula Andress gave away the award. There were comic performances by Johny Lever and Aftab Shivdasani. Amisha Patel's performance, one thought was uncannily similar to Madonna's recent world tour. The actress also danced to Madonna's Don't tell me to stop. Fardeen Khan and Urmila Matondkar also danced to a reprise of Kambakht ishq.
