Gladiator is Best FilmThe Oscar Award for Best Film at the 73rd Annual Academy Awards at Los Angeles went to Gladiator. Producers Douglas Wick, David Franzoni, Branko Lustig accepted the award from Michael Douglas. They said, "It takes a lot of people to create the Colosseum. Only takes a couple to mess it up." Special thanks went to director Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe who "killed whole of the Colosseum and put the human back in the hero." With this award, the film won a total of five Oscars -- best costume design, visual effects, sound best actor and best film. The other award biggie, Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, won four Oscars -- for art direction, music, cinematography and foreign language film.
