Weaving a sorry tale in Kancheepuram

Revathikanthan, an unabashed Rajnikanth fan had his house pasted full of Rajni's pictures. He agreed with what Jayakumar said about the DMK and added, "I still cannot forget what Kalaignar [Karunanidhi] said. It was an insult to us. We will never forget that."

He also has a small grouse against his hero, Rajnikanth! "I believed what he said. When he asked us to vote against Jayalalitha and vote for Moopanar, we voted for him and the DMK. Look at what we got! I decided then and there to vote only for whoever does us good. Jayalalitha is the only person who has done us some good. So, our votes are for her." He was quite sure about this.

"Even if she didn't give us anything more, we only want the present situation to continue. For that, the AIADMK has to come back," he added.

His brother Lakshmikanthan, another Rajni fan, reminded us that this was why Kancheepuram gave a victory to Jayalalitha in the last by-elections by a huge margin. "She had then promised a bonus for us, and we came to know that the money has reached the collectorate. But no money has reached us so far."
