Simran campaigns for Amma

From a piece of paper, Simran read, "Namma chinnam Iratta Ilai. (Our symbol, two leaves). The crowd repeated after her. "Amma namma leader." The crowd cheered loudly. "Ammakku vote pottal, nalla roads, no rowdism, no water problem," she said. Once again, she said, "Namma chinnam?" The crowd answered, "Iratta Ilai."

There ended the event the thousands of people waited for. From the way the crowd cheered, it appeared they wanted to see more of her, and hear more from her.

Once we squeezed outside, we saw hundreds and hundreds of people pushing the cordon to get near Simran's car. They just wanted to have a glimpse of the star when she got into the car. Police used their lathis, shouted at the people but like the waves in the sea, they went back to come forward again.

We somehow managed to escape unhurt and unscathed from the surging crowd, but it was a frightening experience.
