One of the most fiery and tenacious Dalit candidates in the fray, Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati won against Samajwadi Party leader Shankh Lal Majhi.

Though the BSP has declared that it will support the Congress-led government at the Centre, Mayawati made it clear that if the Congress backs the Samajwadi Party in leading the government, it would not support such an alliance.
