The Weeper
This is an approach targeted towards women. Here, the politician tries to impress the women in a crowd with his emotional sensitivity and responsiveness. He is the New Age man who is easily moved to tears, and is not afraid to let his emotions hang out, right beside the wet handkerchief that hangs limply from his kurta pocket.
Interestingly, this approach works better with rustic women than urbanites. Congress stalwart Janardhan Poojary, for example, whenever he addressed a village crowd would often find something that would move him to public tears, and always in mid speech. Like the thought of all the women of the village walking miles to fetch drinking water, or an old woman fighting for her pension.
Bollywood's loss, we suppose.
