England vs South Africa

Fifth Test, Day 1

Opener Herschelle Gibbs, responsible for the call that ran out his skipper, made amends as he hit 20 fours and one six en route to his 10th Test century.

A tired Gibbs was finally dismissed for 183 bowled by Ashley Giles in the final session of the day.

Gibbs missed out on what would have been his third double century in Test cricket. His highest score of 228 was made against Pakistan this January when he put on a 368-run opening stand with Graeme Smith.
