When the 'Silent killer' reigned

The uproar created by the series was enormous. The Marleybone Cricket Club needed a scapegoat; they found one in Larwood.

The MCC asked Larwood to write an apology. He refused. Larwood had followed his captain's orders, he bowled his heart out and felt no need to apologize. The 'Bodyline' series was the last he played.

The player whose influence on the Aussies was said to 'gleam like malignant lightning', eventually made Australia his. He had earned the respect of his opponents. His immense contribution to the game will always be remembered.
