Indian-Americans make their presence felt at Democratic Convention

The two governors from the key swing states in this November's presidential election, Ohio Governor Ted Strickland and Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, US House Majority Leader Congressman Steny Hoyer, Democratic National Committee vice-chairman and chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, Congressman Mike Honda and a slew of other US lawmakers graced the only Indian American event at the Democratic National Convention in Denver
The reception, hosted by the Indian American Leadership Initiative and held in the Grand Ballroom at the Denver Athletic Club, was to honour prominent elected and appointed Indian American Democrats and progressives from across the country.
Kansas and Ohio state legislators Rajiv Goyle and Jay Goyal, former New York Solicitor General and Obama campaign insider Preeta Bansal, San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris, Michigan State Senator Hansen Clarke, New Jersey State Representative Upendra Chivukula, Virginia Secretary of Technology Aneesh Chopra and District of Columbia Chief Technology Officer Vivek Kundra were among the attendees.
